Equip. Build. Mature.

A call to every covenant disciple of Jesus to be equipped, built up, and matured in Christ.

About

Welcome!

We desire for every covenant disciple of Jesus to be spiritually equipped, built up, and matured. We believe each disciple of Jesus is to be involved in using his or her own gifts for building God’s kingdom. There is more than enough work to go around. God has a role of responsibility
designed especially for you (Ephesians 2:10).

We must work in cooperation with the Holy Spirit… to build our lives to reflect the image of God… seen most perfectly in the life of Jesus. This requires a roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty mindset… where we will get tired and bruised. But, when we begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit… we are refreshed and filled with great joy!

Purpose

God has a unique role for you in His Kingdom.

Spirit Built

Our lives are shaped in partnership with God to reflect Jesus.

Joyful Grit

Discipleship means effort and endurance, but the fruit of the Spirit brings refreshment.

Faith Journey

Shaped by Grace

When a sculptor looks at a stone, he does not see the ugly and dirty unshaped rock in front of him. Instead, he has already visualized the completed statue. He must chisel away the excess stone and enable that image to become a reality.

When Jesus called Simon to follow Him… he was an emotional…unstable… unshaped stone!

But, Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter. The Greek is Petros, which means “stone.” His Aramaic name “Cephas” also means “rock.” When Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter… he was far from being like a rock. He often talked without thinking… which he would later regret. He once proudly told Jesus that he would never deny Him. But, right after that he denied Jesus three times.

Jesus called Simon “Rock” because Jesus saw what Simon would become. He knew he would become a spiritually strong and steady leader. It did not happen overnight. Through struggles… failures and victories… Jesus transformed Peter.

Equip - Build - Mature

The Call to Grow

Every covenant disciple of Jesus… should be in a continual process of spiritually maturing and developing. Every redeemed child of God… should have a desire and goal to be… equipped… built up… and matured. Jesus prepares His redeemed disciples… to become servant leaders.

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullnessEphesians 4:11-13

Equipping

- Jesus’ covenant disciples… must be equipped… for works of service. Each child of God… needs to be trained and prepared… to serve God and others. The result of this nurturing… is a heart that is postured… to serve God… in Jesus’ church… and, in the world.

Building

- Jesus’ church… is metaphorically described as a body. This body of Jesus has various parts. Each part is to contribute to… the overall well-being of Jesus’ church. The purpose of equipping is to enable Jesus’ disciples… to work together… to build up this body… promoting unity and growth.

Maturing

- the ultimate goal… is for each disciple of Jesus… to reach maturity in their faith… becoming like Jesus in character and conduct. This requires growing in their knowledge of God’s Son… pursuing unity based on their faith in Jesus… and, arriving at real maturity which reflects the fullness of Jesus.
